Travel assistance for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities

High needs students with severe mobility or learning difficulties may apply for discretionary travel assistance.

The student must
1Live permanently in Solihull
2Attend a full-time, suitable course at a suitable school, further education college of institution or 16-19 academy
3Be aged 16-18 at the time of application, or have started the course before their 19th birthday
4Be unable to travel to their course independently

Applications which meet the minimum criteria above will be individually assessed for eligibility.  The offer of assistance will be limited to one of the following:

Independent travel trainingYoung person or parent can apply for independent travel training
Personal travel budgetBased on 45p per mile (home to school x 4) less £310
Seat on a vehicle to:
Forest Oak Special School
Hazel Oak Special School
Merstone Special School
Reynalds Cross Special School
Young person or parent who qualifies for this option will have to pay a contribution £630 per year or £210 per term, towards the cost
