COVID Recovery Support

SISS has been funded to offer Recovery Support to schools for the academic year September 2020-21.  Additional staffing has been recruited to support the following offer to children, young people and schools:

The SISS SEMH Team are offering support to pupils who continue to experience difficulties with the transition back to school following the period of school closure due to COVID-19.  This support is funded through the Local Authority ‘COVID-19 Recovery Support’.

Support can be requested for pupils who may be having difficulty adjusting to routines and expectations, re-establishing social connections and/or their attendance may be of concern. We have additional capacity to provide expert support from SEMH Inclusion Support Practitioners and SEMH Advisory Teachers.

SISS Communication and Learning Difficulties Team – ‘Recovery Support’ Consultations

During the course of 2020-21, the SISS CLD team will be able to offer all mainstream settings in the LA the opportunity for a two-hour consultation with a specialist teacher to discuss and plan the school’s provision for pupils with SEND, as part of the post-lockdown recovery plan. This meeting could involve, for example, a review of the school’s provision map, the chance to consider the intervention options available to your school and practical planning strategies in terms of short and long-term support for those pupils with additional needs. Please contact Jo Shilton if you would like to arrange a meeting: shilton@solihull.gov.uk
