Our priorities over the next 12 months 2016/17

The key areas we will be focusing on during 2017/18 are: 

  • Delayed transfers of care from hospitals
  • Workforce – dealing with the shortage of social care nursing staff and direct care workers
  • Managing sickness absence within our workforce
  • Medium Term Financial Strategy for adult services
  • Solihull Together – whole system approach to meet health and adult social care needs
  • Continuing the redesign of the pathway into Adult Social Care including Customer Services, Promoting Independence, Assessment & Support Planning and Review
  • Joint planning of transition of children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) to adult services
  • Continuing to embed the new Care at Home framework implemented in April 2017
  • Review of in-house provider services
  • Continuing to shape the social care market in Solihull, including new tenders for residential, nursing, homecare and extra care schemes
  • In-house modernisation of learning disability services and day opportunities
  • Developing a social care workforce strategy to support the wider care and support market
  • Making safeguarding personal
  • Developing the Carers Strategy and implementation plan for 2017/18
  • Utilising our Experts by Experience
  • Aligning services and working with communities to develop community based housing
  • Replacing our main social care ICT system
