Employee Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what some of our Social Work Staff had to say about working for Solihull Children’s Social Work Services.

Lauren, Social Worker, Children’s  Assessment Team: “I have really good supervision. It’s consistent and my manager enables me to reflect on the work I do. It’s a safe space to talk and help me progress and it is really prioritised. There is a real emphasis on challenge and support, which has been great for my growth as a worker.”

Gurpal, Independent Reviewing Officer: “I have been with Solihull for 1 year as an Independent reviewing officer. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, it has been a great learning experience. All employees of Solihull have been extremely helpful, patient and warming towards me. As this was a new role for me, I feel I would have not been able to develop if I did not have the right support which has been incredible. This support is not just with my team or team manager it is with the service as a whole. What has really impressed and influenced me is the culture of practice at Solihull, there is a great ethos that is shared by all. There is not a disparity between the vision of senior management and front line practitioners. This is clearly evident in when Solihull adopted the Signs of Safety approach. The transition has been smooth because of everyone’s willingness and going that extra mile to make it work. With any change obviously there are some teething problems, and these have been worked on collaboratively with a sense of togetherness and as a process of learning rather than blame. The role of the principal social worker has assisted greatly in the collaboration of the service as it keeps everyone involved, informed and updated. Overall Solihull is a great place to work, for me it feels like one big family.”

Inderpal, Social Worker, Adoption Team: “The best thing about Solihull is that everyone knows each other, it feels like an extended family. The caseloads are manageable too, which means people can focus on the families they are working with.”
